Masala Coffee (Coffee infused with Indian Spices)
This Indian Spiced Coffee flavored with few Indian spices delivers delicious complex of flavors at home. There are no artificial flavors, chemicals, MSG, or preservatives. Masala Coffee is refreshing, aromatic beverage that can be enjoyed at any time of day.
Ingredients:
Serves 2
- 2 cups water
- 2-3 tsp instant coffee (other option is to use strong freshly made coffee from your coffee maker)
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cinnamon stick (1 inch long)
- 4 cardamom pods
- 6-8 cloves
- 1 star anise (optional)
- ¼ tsp freshly grated nutmeg (optional)
- 2 tbsp coffee, regular grind
- sugar, artificial sweteaner (optional)
How to make Masala Coffee (Spiced Coffee):
Method 1.
- Pour the water into a saucepan. Add cinnamon stick, cardamoms, cloves and star anise. Bring water to a boil.
- Reduce heat to a low and let it simmer for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the instant coffee, add the milk, mix it well and bring it to a boil.
- Strain into serving cups or mugs. Add sugar (optional). Sprinkle with ground nutmeg (optional). Serve hot.
Method 2.
- Pour milk into a saucepan. Add cinnamon stick, cardamoms, cloves and star anise (optional). Bring it to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 5-10 minutes.
- Make your coffee in your favorite coffee maker.
- When ready pour the milk flavored with Indian spice into cup with freshly made coffee.
- Add sugar to taste and spirkle with ground nutmeg (optional). Serve hot.
Tip:
- Masala Coffee taste great without milk.
- Cinnamon stick can be replaced by cinnamon powder.
- Milk can be replaced with almond milk.
