Savory Lassi

This salted, served chilled yogurt drink is best treat in hot days. This lassi is best accompaniment for a heavy lunch or dinner where spicy food is served. It is usualy made by blending yogurt along with salt, roasted ground cumin, chaat masala and decorated with mint leaves.

Ingredients:

Seves 4

  • 3 cups plain yogurt
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 fresh green chili, seeded and very finely chopped
  • ½ tsp ground cumin made by grinding dry roasted cumin seeds
  • salt and pepper
  • crushed ice to serve
  • fresh cilantro or mint leaves to decorate

How to make Savory Lassi:

  1. Pour the yogurt and water into a bowl and blender.
  2. Stir in the chili, cumin, season to taste with salt and pepper.
  3. Process in the blender for at least 30 seconds to get frothy consistency.
  4. Let it chill in the refrigerator for 30 min.
  5. To serve, fill tall glasses with crushed ice and pour in the lassi.
  6. Sprinkle with roasted and finnaly ground cumin.
