Turmeric Tea (Golden Milk)

Turmeric tea known also as a golden milk is one of the healthiest beverages you can think of. Curcumin, the main ingredient in turmeric is where the health benefits lie. Turmeric tea is great for improving the immune system, lowering a cholesterol, reducing arthiritis and preventing Alzhaimer's disease.

Ingredients:

Serves 2

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp turmeric or 2 inch piece fresh turmeric (2 tbsp grated turmeric)
  • 1 tsp black tea (or 1 tea bags)
  • 6 cardamom pods
  • 2 cinnamon stick
  • 1 star anise (optional)
  • 1 cup milk
  • sugar, honey (otional)
  • lemon to serve (optional, in case you do not use milk)

How to Make Turmeric Tea:

  1. Boil water in a pan.
  2. Add cardamom pods and cinnamon sticks. Add fresh turmeric or turmeric powder. Cook on medium heat for 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add black tea leaves or tea bags. Cover it and cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Pour in milk and bring it to boil. (Skip this part if you do not want to use milk)
  5. Cover and leave to steep for 4 minutes.
  6. Then strain into cups. Serve with sugar, honey, and with lemon if you didn't add milk.
