Jaggery Tea

Jaggery tea is traditional Indian tea with jaggery (gud in Hindi), a sweatener and spices like fennel, black pepper and green cardamom. This tea has a deep earthy flavor and tastes truly delicious.

Ingredients:

Serves 2

  • 3 cups water
  • 3-4 tbsp jaggery (gur) grated
  • 2 tsp tea leaves
  • 4 green cardamoms (crashed)
  • 1 tspfFennel seeds (saunf)
  • 6 black peppercorns

How to make Jaggery Tea:

  1. Add 3 cups of water to a non-stick pan. Add cardamoms, fennel seeds, crushed peppercorns. Bring to a boil.
  2. Cook on low-medium heat for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add tea leaves and let it brew for 3 minutes.
  4. Put jaggery in a tea pot and strain in the prepared tea mixture. Stir till jaggery melts. Serve hot.
