Aloo Keema Tikki

Aloo-Keema patties are a delicious combination of potatoes and minced meat. The word "tikki" means a small cutlet or croquette. The taste and aroma of spices should be not overwhelming to get the flavor of meat as well as potatoes. This delicious snack can be served with a spicy curry, various chutneys and raitas.

Ingredients:

(serves 4)

  • 4 large baking potatoes, about 2 pounds
  • ½ lb ground lamb (beef) meat
  • ½ cup of green peas
  • 4 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1 tbsp garlic - ginger paste
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • salt to taste
  • pomegranate seeds to decorate

How to make Aloo Keema Tikki:

  1. Scrub potatoes and pat dry. Bake in a 350°F oven for 45 to 50 minutes or until cooked through and tender.
  2. In meantime stir fry garlic ginger paste for about 1 minute. Add ground meat, paprika, cumin, black pepper and salt and cook for about 10 minutes, or until meat is cooked.
  3. When potatoes are done cut them in half lengthwise; scoop out pulp.
  4. When ready staff potatoes with meat.
  5. Put potatoes to the pre heated oven 350°F. Bake for 10 minutes.
  6. Serve hot with coriander chutney and tamarind chutney.
